3rd Annual STRIDER World Championship Races

Toddlers from Around World to Compete in 3rd Annual

STRIDER World Championship Races
Strider Sports Intl. Hosts Annual Strider World Championship at Country's Oldest BMX Track

Rapid City, S.D.  Sept. 30, 2013 - Helmets are buckled, jerseys pressed and little legs prepped for push-off as parents watch from the racetrack sideline, holding their breath and hoping that their little one crosses the finish line first. This is the anticipated scene at the third annual 2013 Strider World Championships taking place in Sarasota, Fla. October 11 - 13 when families come together from around the world for a weekend full of racing and family fun.

The Strider World Championships are both the annual culmination of regional races happening across the United States and around the world as well as an organized celebration of STRIDER culture weekend for young riders and their families. Competing head to head at Sarasota BMX, the nation's longest running BMX track, even the smallest of STRIDER riders will get a taste of the big leagues.

Strider Sports Intl. will kick-off the weekend on Friday October 11 at 5pm EST. After the opening ceremonies, STRIDER riders will then get the chance to take a few practice turns around the track to either qualify last minute or to perfect their skills for the big race on Saturday, October 12.

After a full day of riding, racing, and fun activities on Saturday, families and kids will love the low-key day on Sunday. The morning starts out with some freestyle riding at the local skate park followed by some relaxation at the host hotel with their new STRIDER community friends.  Later that afternoon, parents get one more chance to cheer for their toddlers at the "STRIDERS in the Surf" beach parade. The weekend ends with a special luau themed meal and entertainment at the host hotel.

"How many people can say they raced in a world-wide athletic competition at the age of two?" asks Ryan McFarland, Strider founder and CEO. "Watching families come together from all over the world is the highlight of our year. And we love to see families and kids from here in the United States make friends with people from Japan, Europe and around the world - all because of their shared love of STRIDER bikes."

"Sarasota County continues to draw world class sports events because we have world class facilities," said Carolyn Brown, Sarasota County Parks and Recreation General Manager. "We are proud to host the 2013 Strider World Championships and look forward to a great weekend of racing and family fun."

Across the board, parents, educators and health professionals notice an instant boost in confidence in kids who start to bike early.  STRIDER bikes help kids learn to ride at a younger age than historically possible and set the stage for healthy and active lifestyles.
