Hello Freedom Chasers,

I sit here today thinking about the wonders of the many motorcycle trips I have had the privilege of experiencing over my 40 years on two wheels. WOW, I tell myself...what a series of amazing adventures its been. Especially the rides which included my wife Laura, brother Rocky, sister Roselle and our families. Amazing really. Truly amazing family experiences.

I remember as a young teenager the feeling of excitement and freedom when I got my first motorcycle, a Yamaha Enduro 80 cc. It was a lemon by today's standards. Always breaking down and needing fixing. Luckily, mechanics came easy to me so I could fix almost any problem that occured. I rode that machine everywhere I could in and around the lumber camps. Only the cold and snowy Canadian winters got in my way.

Today, well life is a lot different living and riding in sunny Southern California. Interesting to note how far we have all come. Consider the following.

We are taught from the time we are born to conform. To conform to current and conventional views. We are discouraged from taking risks and encouraged to follow the proven path. In many ways we have been taught how to follow, rather than lead. Motorcycles changes this. By its very nature, riding on two wheels is inherently dangerous. It requires confidence, alertness and skill. On some rides, you think every cager is out to get ya. On others, you think you are the only person alive and riding in the heavens. Hard to explain to non-bikers.  You'll just have to take my word for it.

In a world guided by rules, regulations, interest groups and government bureaucrats, motorcycling provides an unequaled outlet of freedom. Your spitit is let loose. Your mind decluttered. You think of nothing else when on a motorcycle ride. In fact, there's nothing like a good ride on a quiet country road to ignite your true human spirit.

I want to applaud all you motorcycle guys and gals out there. Stay guided by your common bond of values and beliefs. Ride free. Ride often. Stay true to your passion of riding in the wind.

Ride Safe Out There.
